Wiki Tourist, Ifeanyi Uba FC lead after day one

The first match of the season between Dolphins and Kwara United ended in stalemat. The match was played at the Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt.

It was same for the other match played at the Liberation Stadium between Sharks and Sunshine Stars.

Wiki Tourist ran out 2-0 winners against visitors 3SC. Wikki’s Victor Yakubu finally scored the first goal of the season in his side’s home win over the Oluyole Warriors. He netted just after three minutes and he added the second goal in the second half of the encounter.

The match between Giwa FC of Jos and Abia Warriors ended in 0-0 draw while FC Taraba beat Enugu Rangers in a five goals thriller. The Jalingo Boys started the new season from where they ended it last season with a 3-2 home win over their visitors from Enugu Rangers. It was 1-1 at halftime before Giwa FC were awarded a penalty barely a minute into the second half. Abdulmalik Mohammed scored from the spot before Nura Ahmed put the icing on the cake.

It was another draw again at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin as the match between Bayelsa United and Lobi Stars ended one goal apiece.

Ifeanyi Uba FC defeated Warri Wolves two goals to nothing as the team formerly known as Gabros United caused the first real upset of the Nigerian Premier League season. They are on top of the league with Wikki Tourists.

The El-Kanemi Warriors starting life in their new home in Kaduna defeated Nasarawa United by a lone goal.

The People's Elephant, Enyimba FC were forced to a 0-0 draw by Akwa United .
