NFF to spend 300m Naira on March friendlies

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have disclosed they will spend about 300 million Naira (about $1.2 million) for the two Super Eagles friendlies matches against Bolivia and South Africa later this month.

The President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick,  disclosed yesterday while answering questions from the house committee on Sports in the Federations budget.

The Delta State born administrator revealed that that the Akwa Ibom State Government will cover all the expenses including appearance fees for the Bolivia match in Uyo on March 26.

“We have several national teams travelling out and some are in competition right now, so it’s very demanding on the federation and we do not have the funds to prosecute all these.

“We have two international friendlies this month. The good thing for us in this is that the Akwa Ibom State Government has pledged to help us foot the bills for the Bolivian team. This includes their appearance fee and their accommodation”

“But despite this we still need to camp our team, pay them their bonuses and this will cost us about 60 million Naira.

“But also remember that we would be playing South Africa three days later and we would be paying for our players’ appearance plus flight tickets, so in all we would be spending about 300 million Naira,” Pinnick revealed.

The NFF according to a source have already started to shop for a replacment.
