The NFF was formally launched in 1945 but joined FIFA and CAF in 1960.

During the plenary session on Tuesday, May 30, the Nigerian Football Federation (Est, etc) Bill, 2017 (SB. 154) was read for the third time and passed.

The NFF Establishment Bill 2017 which was presented by the Senate Committee on Sports is to seek the legalisation of the NFF.

In the same sitting, the report of the Committee on Sports. Nigerian Football Federation (Est, etc) Bill, 2017 (SB. 154) was also presented by Senator Obinna Ogba.

The bill is to the Senate to consider the reports of the Committee on Sports on NFF.

After deliberations, the Senate dissolve to the Committee of the Whole to consider the report of the Committee on Sports on Nigerian Football Federation.
