The legal dispute between the English Premier League and Manchester City could take several years if the club exhausts all available legal avenues, reports The Athletic. The outlet states that despite mandated deadlines for league appeal hearings, the sheer volume of evidence in this case allows for them to be extended.

Legal experts have also not ruled out the possibility of the case moving outside the Premier League's internal sporting jurisdiction.

"Premier League rules allow for an appeal process and potentially further arbitration. Furthermore, taking the matter to court cannot be ruled out either. A final resolution on the disciplinary proceedings, let alone any subsequent claims, could drag on for years," said Fred Snowball, a lawyer at a prestigious law firm.
