The allowances of Nigeria’s federal lawmakers were recently brought into question after reports emerged that they were set to receive the sum of N8.64 billion as wardrobe allowance.

• N8.64 billion: Miscellaneous allowances including furniture, personal assistant, entertainment and utility allowances paid upfront for the entire four-year tenure of the 469 federal lawmakers.
• N433,649,600: Annual housing allowance for Senators except President and Deputy.
• N1,421,412,150: Annual housing allowance for 358 representatives asides the Speaker.
• N650  474,400: Furniture allowance for 107 senators paid once in four years.
