The 28 year-old returned to Nigeria in May 2012 to create one of the biggest online stores in Africa. The idea behind this was to fill the void of accessibility to consumer retail needs. In 18 months Jumia went from five people to almost a thousand employees and was shipping almost a thousand items a day to different cities.

The entrepreneur, who left Jumia, recently started a logistics courier called African Courier Express. On the My Africa podcast, Kehinde talks about his reasons for leaving a successful company and gives priceless advice for individuals looking to start their own businesses.

“In emerging markets, things change over night, your business plan is most likely worthless by the time you finish writing it.

“The best businesses are built on deep insights”, he said.
