With their third victory in the last four rounds, Mallorca took another significant step towards potentially securing their La Liga status. This time, the Palma-based side defeated Rayo Vallecano 3-0 at home in a match from the 31st round. The game will be remembered for striker Vedat Muriqi's record-breaking performance. The Kosovan international scored the first two goals, surpassing Samuel Eto'o's record for most goals for the club in league history.
Muriqi now boasts 55 goals, while the former Barcelona player netted 54 during his tenure on the Balearic Islands.
Muriqi scored two identical goals within minutes before halftime. The first came from a corner in the 36th minute, and in the 40th, the striker doubled the lead following a counter-attack.
After the break, Yan Virgili sealed Rayo's fate with a shot to make it 3-0.
