José Mourinho spoke after Real Madrid's convincing 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad. This marked the Special One's first official match back at the Santiago Bernabéu as the 'Los Blancos' coach.

"Real Sociedad is a very good team that caused us problems in the first half. I wished there had been a cooling break around the 20th or 25th minute so I could talk to the players. They surprised us; they didn't create too many dangerous chances, but it was difficult for us to press. We changed things in the second half. It was important to stay calm, because a blind press without direction would have been more complicated. We maintained that composure, and the second half was very, very, very strong," Mourinho began.

The Madrid coach discussed Kylian Mbappé's role in the match, as the forward has started the season exceptionally well. In only the team's second La Liga game of the campaign, the Frenchman scored a hat-trick.

"Mbappé has the ability to score goals and create chances. When the team is in more difficulty, he is capable of tracking back, linking up with Vinicius and Jude, helping the team gain ground, and creating danger. Obviously, he had an incredible game, but the team has always been a team. It was a great match for the squad, with many high-level individual performances – the defenders, the center-backs, the engines in midfield... and then the attacking players," Mourinho stated.

"I am very happy that Mbappé has made World Cup history as the top scorer. But I insist: the team has always been a team. And that is the most important thing. Kylian is not the typical striker who just waits. There's nothing you can teach these players. The level was very high across all lines. With Mbappé, I value his role within the group. I left him on the field in case he scored a fourth goal. I substituted Vinicius immediately after he scored. I would never take him off without a goal. I thought it was good for him to leave the field to the affection of the fans," Mourinho added.

Despite the victory, there were a few whistles heard during the match. The Portuguese specialist shared that he doesn't attach much importance to this phenomenon and even perceives it as normal.

"I already know the Bernabéu. And thankfully, it's like that. It's a consequence of its history. People pay to experience emotions. We are where we are because we have the ability to remain calm in the face of difficulties. The crowd whistled because they want Real Madrid to dominate. But the team remained calm. A few whistles don't harm anyone; they help you grow. In Spain, teams aren't afraid; it's not like in other leagues," Mourinho concluded.
