Mourinho on Arda Güler incident: Nobody has been able to show me proof of what they're claiming
Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has dismissed claims that midfielder Arda Güler should have been sent off in their dominant 4-1 La Liga win over Sevilla. The Portuguese manager stated he had seen no footage of the alleged elbow on Gerard Fernández, accusing Sevilla counterpart Luis García Plaza of trying to deflect attention from the final scoreline.
The incident took place while the match was still goalless, as Güler collided with the Sevilla player, sparking furious protests from the opposition bench. However, the referee allowed play to continue without intervening. Speaking after the final whistle, Mourinho expressed his bewilderment over the debate surrounding the young Turkish talent.
"Nobody has been able to show me that what they are talking about actually happened," Mourinho said in his post-match press conference. "There is no footage. I asked for tapes from the television broadcast and from my staff's tactical camera, but I didn't see anything confirming those claims or explaining why Luis García Plaza was so infuriated," he added. "Honestly, if something goes our way one day, I have no problem admitting it. But I think the opposite will happen more often—that is usually the trend. I saw nothing. If anyone can provide clear and objective footage by Saturday of something I missed—which the player insists never took place—then we can talk about it. But until then, there is nothing," concluded Mourinho.
