Many are quick to lay the blame on the government of the day, stating that bad leadership, lack of employment opportunities, poverty and momentous corruption by government officials lead many youths into crime.

Many are also of the view that that greed, the get rich quick syndrome, laziness, peer pressure, parental upbringing and the society's recognition of wealth, not minding how it is gotten, contribute to crime in the country.
