Is polygamy really that bad?

In time past, marrying more than one wife was the norm and a man's measure of wealth and importance was in the number of women he had. But these days, many see polygamy as a bad omen, what with jealousy from the women, favoritism, lack of parental care on some of the children and the economic crunch in the country.

Many men would never be caught getting married to more than one woman while some women have been known to walk out of their homes if their husbands decide to get another wife, while some believe that polygamy can actually curb cheating and infidelity in a marriage.

On the religious side, in Islam, a man is allowed to marry more than one wife only if he can take care of them and love them equally.
