Lee had begun the final round two shots behind Hedwall and world number one Stacy Lewis. However, the Swede could only muster a level-par 73 on Sunday, while Lewis fared even worse, making four bogeys in a 75 that dropped her into a tie for sixth.

That enabled Lee to follow up her triumph at August's Meijer LPGA Classic with a success that will have surprised many, including the winner herself.

"I really didn't think I would get my second win this quickly," she said. "I was a lot more nervous this time than first time around.

"I think I made a few mistakes towards the end, [but] I'm really happy I won the tournament."

A key moment in Lee's final round saw the eventual winner get up and down from off a rock on the 17th. After chipping from a greenside hazard at the par three, she rolled in a nerveless 12-foot putt and then proceeded to birdie the final hole.

"The ball was actually on the rock." Lee explained. "It went to the direction I wanted it to go, but it wasn"t the momentum that I wanted.

"I was telling it to sit down, but I think the result was pretty good. I was happy with the outcome."

Hedwall acknowledged the significance of Lee's remarkable escape on 17.

"Of course, you're always a little disappointed that you couldn't pull it off and win," said Hedwall.

"At the same time, the up-and-down she made on 17 was just incredible.

"I struggled this season, so it's nice to get a good finish. It gives me a lot of confidence for the rest of the Asian swing."
