Following his two assists in France's dominant 3-0 victory over Sweden, Michael Olise now boasts five assists at the 2026 World Cup. The French attacking midfielder is now just one assist shy of equaling Pelé's long-standing record.

France's attacking prowess continues to impress, with Olise once again at the heart of their offensive efforts. While he didn't find the back of the net himself against Sweden in this World Cup 2026 Round of 16 clash, his two new assists brought his tournament total to five. The winger also provided two crucial passes in the match against Iraq and registered one assist in France's opening game of the tournament against Senegal.

Since Opta began tracking statistics for the competition, only one player has recorded more assists in a single World Cup – Pelé. In 1970, the Brazilian legend set up six goals for his teammates as the Seleção went on to win the world title.
