AC Milan midfielder, Michael Essien has denied recent rumours that he has been infected with the Ebola Virus Disease.
The speculations went rife on the internet yesterday with a purported confirmation from an employee of the club, Riccardo Colli who was alleged to have said:
"It has come to a big shock to everyone involved with the club but we are optimistic for Essien.
"He is a very strong person and the Ebola has been caught in the early stages. He’s in experts hands so he should be fine."
However, the former Chelsea midfielder has denied the reports and said that he is doing just fine.
He Tweeted:
“No truth in internet rumours that I have contracted Ebola.i m very well & I'm doing very gud & will be training as usual tomorrow.#falsenews”

Meanwhile a man with the Twitter handle, @YuryAlkaev is alleged to have started the rumours with a tweet saying:
“Breaking news: Ghana international and AC Milan star Michael Essien has contracted Ebola, his club has confirmed.”
Mr Alkaev’s bio describes him as a former SVR agent currently living in Northern Ireland and a Sports journalist.
Another footballer, Crystal Palace player, Dele Adebola, recently had to deny rumours of being infected with Ebola after some people matched the last five letters of his surname to the disease and made a joke of it via social media.
