Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has been honoured with the 2015 German Football Ambassador Public Award.

The 26-year-old was presented with the award on Tuesday, June 2 in London as recognition for his charity work.

The Germany International spoke of his pride in receiving the award.

"Thank you for this great award. It means a lot to me especially because it was voted for by the fans. I'm also very proud that I can accept this prize," Ozil said as quoted by .

"Many people don't have the opportunity to enjoy life. Our goal is simply to create a bit of a better future for them. That is our aim."

While sharing the photo of him receiving the award on Instagram, Ozil promised to continue with more charity works.

"Thank you all so much for electing me as the German Football Ambassador 2015 - This really motivates me to dedicate even more time to charity projects in the future! ," he wrote on Instagram.
