Ex-Super Falcons star named assistant coach of Virginia Beach City FC

Mercy has been based in Virginia since she retired form football. From 2008-2013, Mercy worked as the co-director of Youth Development for Beach FC in Virginia Beach, Virginia before joining the coaching staff of Virginia Rush Soccer Club, in Virginia Beach, VA.
Mercy was announced as assistant coach of Virginia Beach City FC women’s first team following the appointment of John Germanos as manager.
They will be joined by Steve O'Neill as the team’s goalkeeper coach.
“The new coaching staff is set and ready to go for the 2016 WPSL season,” a statement found on the club’s official website reads.
Virginia Beach City FC is an American professional soccer club based in Virginia Beach, Virginia playing in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL)- second level of women's soccer in the United States soccer pyramid, below National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).
The team plays its home games at The Virginia Beach Sportsplex. The team colors are black, blue, and white.
Mercy won three African Women Championship with the Super Falcons in 1998, 2000 and 2002.
Akide also competed in the Olympic Games in Sydney (2000) and Athens (2004) and was also awarded the first African woman Player of the Year.
She is currently married to ace Nigerian sports journalist, Colin Udoh and they reside in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with their two children.
