France captain Kylian Mbappe and his family have terminated their contract with long-standing legal counsel Delphine Verheyden. The decision was made in August, according to L'Equipe. The sports law specialist had represented the World Cup winner's interests for ten years.
The decision to part ways was communicated to Verheyden by Ziad Hammoud, CEO of the player's holding company Interconnected Ventures, as well as the forward's mother, Fayza Lamari.
According to the French publication, a financial dispute lies at the heart of the split. The lawyer has submitted a claim to the Paris Bar Association seeking unpaid legal fees, asserting that the terms of her contract were not properly honored.
Verheyden confirmed the news to the press: "It has been an absolute pleasure to work side by side with Kylian Mbappe over the past ten years. He is an extraordinary athlete and person. I have taken note of the decision made by the CEO of his organisation to terminate my agreement as of 16 August 2026."
Delphine Verheyden had been at the forefront of Mbappe's legal battle with his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, following his transfer to Real Madrid in 2024. The forward was initially demanding €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses. His legal team fought a lengthy dispute, culminating in December 2025 when the Paris Labor Court ordered PSG to pay a total of €61 million covering overdue salary, bonuses, and accrued holiday pay.
Throughout their decade-long partnership, Verheyden typically favored a discreet approach, though she firmly stepped into the public eye when handling high-profile cases such as the dispute with the Parisian giants.
