Marseille officially unveiled a new club crest this Wednesday, a change that had been rumored in recent days and is already dividing opinion among fans. The new logo will replace the current one, in use since 2004, starting next season.
Under the motto "The emblem evolves. Passion is eternal," the French club presented the new symbol during a gala event. This marks the twelfth version of the club's crest in its history, now featuring a more minimalist and rounded design.
In a presentation video released on social media, the club showcased various iterations of the new logo. The star, commemorating their 1993 Champions League victory, and the motto "Droit au but" (Straight to the goal) will be present on match kits, but may be omitted in other applications of the symbol.
In a statement, the current fourth-placed team in Ligue 1 explained the vision behind the change. "Our new logo modernizes our iconic emblem while honoring its history," the note read. The club added that the new image boasts "a clear geometric structure that provides strength and readability, while the 'M' unfolds freely — evoking the vibrancy of water, the freedom of wind, and the fire that burns in the heart of Marseille."
