Manchester United retain full faith in Jason Wilcox despite Lisandro Martinez criticism
Manchester United have no intention of parting ways with technical director Jason Wilcox despite Lisandro Martinez's scathing criticism of the club's hierarchy, according to The Sun. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe retains full faith in Wilcox, and there are currently no signs that his position is under threat.
The Argentine defender voiced his frustration following the 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Martinez questioned the club's recruitment strategy, stating he had expected more substantial reinforcements after a strong finish to the previous campaign. Despite splashing around £155 million on new signings, he believes United have failed to address key weaknesses in the squad.
The criticism comes during a difficult spell for Michael Carrick's side, who are already grappling with injuries to key players. The report suggests Martinez's remarks may have also been an attempt to deflect pressure from the head coach, but the club has shown no appetite to take action against Wilcox. Meanwhile, tensions remain high ahead of their trip to Leeds.
