Man United legend Carrick pleased to see 'clever' Eriksen at the club
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen continues to receive accolades for his impressive performances this season for club and country.
The latest came from a Manchester United legend, Michael Carrick, who isn't surprised by what he has seen from the Dane so far.
Carrick has described the summer signing who joined his former club on a free transfer as a 'fantastic' and 'clever' player following a brilliant start to life at Old Trafford.
“I’m not surprised one bit [by Eriksen’s form],” he said, according to ManUtd. “I played against him a lot; I watched him a lot. I like him a lot."
“He’s a fantastic footballer. He’s clever, he’s smart," Carrick added.
The 40-year-old, who retired in 2018, has also been impressed with Eriksen's versatility and is pleased the ex-Tottenham player is at the club.
“It almost doesn’t matter what position he plays,” said the former Red. “He can adapt. He’s just a clever, intelligent footballer with great quality.
“I was pleased when we signed him, and he’s not surprised me one bit. He’s a top player.”
Eriksen impresses on international duties
The United number 14 has had a wonderful trip with his national team during the break.
He was outstanding in the games against Croatia and France, scoring one excellent goal and winning a man of the match award.
Eriksen netted a beauty against Croatia in his first game but it was not enough to save Denmark from a 2-1 defeat.
In the second game against France, the talented midfielder was at his creative and controlling best to inspire the Danes to an impressive 2-0 win.
Eriksen created a ridiculous eight chances, made eight key passes and was involved in the build-up to one of the goals.
