According to ESPN, Kawhi Leonard underwent an MRI on his swollen knee, which revealed no structural damage. However, the two-time NBA champion will be sidelined for at least two to three weeks to properly nurse the injury.
"It's frustrating. I came back wanting to compete with this team, and my focus is on getting back at full strength," Leonard said.
Leonard will undergo a follow-up evaluation next week, which should provide a clearer timeline for his return.
"The Claw" made his return to Toronto this summer after famously leading the franchise to an iconic NBA championship in 2019. Over the first two games of the season, he averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 3.5 steals for Darko Rajaković's squad.
Leonard recently inked a new two-year deal with the Raptors worth $115,000.
