The Barcelona striker had surprised Mateo in May when the cancer sufferer went to see his doctor for a check-up and was sat down for a private consultation with a ‘special’ doctor via video link.

The 'special' doctor turned out to be Suarez which left the surprised Mateo in tears.

"You are very brave, a fighter, so you must keep on going," Suarez told him before promising to send him a signed Barcelona shirt if he follows doctors instructions and treatment.

It seems the boy did as he was told and he got a pleasant surprise on Thursday when Suarez who visited the Hospital Pereira Rossell in Montevideo this week with his wife Sofia gave him the promised jersey.
