Big decision: Spalletti to drop either Osimhen or Raspadori against Mourinho's Roma
Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti is set to make a big call in his starting line-up for his side's upcoming clash against AS Roma.
The Partenopei will travel to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday to face Jose Mourinho's Roma side in the hopes of maintaining their stay at the top of the table.
Napoli are currently unbeaten in the Italian Serie A this season, winning eight (8) and drawing two (2) of their 10 league matches so far.
Spalletti considers Osimhen, Raspadori for AS Roma
Spalletti's side are the most prolific team in the league with 25 goals but the Italian tactician must make a decision on who to lead the line amongst his high-scoring strikers.
According to an Italian news outlet, Gazzetta dello Sport as reported by Napolista, one of Victor Osimhen or Giacomo Raspadori will be dropped to the bench for the crucial Roma clash.
The news outlet stated: "Luciano Spalletti is pondering well whether to drop his Jack immediately or to take advantage of his tactical intelligence in the race."
Raspadori more comfortable on the ball
Gazzetta dello Sport went on to detail the differences between Osimhen and Raspadori and what each of the strikers brings to the Napoli team.
Raspadori is thought to be more comfortable using the ball and coming deeper to draw the runs of defenders and thus create goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates.
"Yes, because compared to Osimhen who always seeks depth, Jack knows how to come to catch the ball and with his movements "attracts" the markers trying to create the central hole for the insertion of Zielinski, Kvaratskhelia or other teammates," Gazzetta dello Sport wrote.
Osimhen better with quick runs
However, Super Eagles striker Osimhen is more comfortable with bursts of speed that catch the opponents unawares.
The news outlet wrote about Osimhen: "It will be necessary to see in the strategy of the coach if it will be more important to start with Osimhen and his "snatches" in speed.
"Or instead to look for the fast triangles from the midfield upwards in which Raspadori with Lobotka and the other teammates have proved to be very skilled for find spaces."
Spalletti is yet to make his final decision on his starting lineup with the match scheduled to hold on Sunday, October 23 by 7:45 p.m.
