The Los Angeles Clippers will have to navigate the tough Western Conference without one of their star players for the time being after it was revealed that Blake Griffin requires elbow surgery.

The forward will undergo an operation on his right elbow to remove a staph infection and is out indefinitely, the franchise revealed.

Griffin will be reevaluated after the All-Star break, meaning he will sit out the February 15 contest in New York. He is averaging 22.5 points and a career-low 7.5 rebounds per game.

His absence could open the door for the Blazers' Damian Lillard to make the All-Star team after an initial snub.
