UEFA TO Alter Champions League Format In 2015/2016

According to Sky Sports, UEFA is reportedly in talks with its club competitions committee to shake up its premier club championship; the UEFA Champion's league

UEFA in its current format of seeding in UCL draws does not recognise the champions of the different leagues across Europe; seeding a champion from one league with another in the same group

In a vein to favour the 'Champions' for what is the 'Champions League', it is proposing to put all the champions from the various leagues in one pot, so to avoid them been drawn in the same group

In the new changes, UEFA would seed league winners of all the top nations and holders of the champions league in pot one.

This has o be approved by the UEFA Executive Committee before it can be effected for the 2015/2016 season.

Draws for the 2014/2015 UCL season held on Thursday in Nyon, Switzerland has English Champions, Manchester City and German Champions Bayren Munich in Group E, while non league winners; Arsenal and Chelsea were seeded in pot one

Also, UEFA is set to award the winners of the current Europa League season with a spot in next Champions League campaign, according to Owen Gibson of the Guradian

Owen also suggested that the third placed teams in the Champions League should not be allowed to drop to the Europa League Knockout stage, which prevents the smaller clubs from going further in the champions league.
