Coming into the 2014 with broiling controversy over bonuses involving the country's football federation FECAFOOT, Cameroon's national team crashed out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup after loosing its first two games against Mexico and Croatia, but the team has a last inconsequential game to play against the host.
They have nothing at stake to play for; whether they loose or win, they will not be joining the other teams in round 16. However, the indomitable lions have said that they will do better to make it difficult for Brazil as against the first two games.
The Lions Indomitables as they are called have not gone past the group stage since they first and last did in Italia 1990 and now the former African champions have failed to make it past the first round again.
Now coached by Volke Finker, this Cameroonian team have been tagged lions only when it comes to bonuses and cubs on the field of play.
After narrowly loosing 1-0 to Mexico, the expectations were that they would at lease draw Crioatia or possibly win but their 4-0 loss to the Croatians marked their early exit and the worst defeat yet for any African team at this World Cup.
They play Hosts and group favourites Brazil who also face a tricky challenge in qualification and the South Americans will not leave the Lions roaring at the end of the 90 minutes: It is hard to look past the prowess and threat the Brazillian team poses to any opposition and Neymar with his skill and magnetism with the ball against defenders can create something out of the ordinary.
''We can do better against Brazil,'' Volke Finker the coach of Cameroon said.
"We have already analysed the first two games and worked well with the players. There have been some situations where we have lacked concentration and we also lacked a finishing touch against Croatia but we can do better against Brazil."
Whether the Lions will finally roar can only be decided on the field: Cameroon will be without captain Samuel Etoó
The two teams will be playing in their fifth game ever, given the record between these two football powerhouses, Brazil has an advantage over the Cameroonians who have only managed one victory to 3 losses against the Brazillians.
