Anthony Smith made a successful return to combat sports, defeating Chase Sherman at the Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA event in the Dominican Republic.

The former UFC title challenger secured a first-round submission (rear-naked choke) in a heavyweight tournament quarter-final bout, part of a competition boasting a $500,000 prize pool.

In the co-main event, another former UFC title contender, Thiago Santos, knocked out Guto Inocente in the first round. The event, promoted by Jorge Masvidal, also featured the opening rounds of both the heavyweight and lightweight tournaments.
