Moses Simon fail to find the back of the net as Nantes draw first game of the season

Sunday's Derby de l'ouest ended scoreless as Nantes held French rivals Angers out for a 0-0 tie at the Stade Raymond Kopa in the city of Angers.

Super Eagles forward Moses was listed for Antoine Kombouare's side on the day, after helping the club secure a top-half finish and win the Coupe de France last season.

Hosts Angers went into the game hoping to win in and extend their opening day record in Ligue 1 to four matches.

Adrien Hunou of Angers missed the first big opportunity of the game, to give the hosts an early lead, as he failed to slide the ball under Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont following a great chance.

The Angers onslaught grew more intense after that, with Hunou and Lois Diony at the centre of everything that went well for the hosts.

First, Hunou, whose goal-bound shot looked to strike a Nantes defender's arm, but the complaints were ignored by the referee Hakim Ben El Hadj. 

Then Diony took a first-time shot inside the box, but it sailed just over the visitors' crossbar.

Nantes on the other hand were below par throughout the first half but wasted no time putting some heat under their opponents early in the second period. 

The onslaught was initiated by Ludovic Blas, however, his driving attempt was deflected.

The next Nantes players to try their lucks were Marcus Coco and Andrei Girotto, but neither was successful.

As the game neared its end, the hosts started looking for the elusive first goal with Azzedine Ounahi, coming close with Angers greatest opportunity, but his shot flew high and wide over the crossbar.

All of these would have been inconsequential if Waniss Tabi had scored a goal in the closing seconds, but it wasn't to be for either team with the points, being evenly distributed.
