Max Verstappen was less than a second away from securing his seventh Formula 1 Grand Slam after missing out on the fastest lap in yesterday's Singapore Grand Prix.

Starting from pole position, the Dutchman led every single lap to take victory at Marina Bay, but could only manage the fifth-fastest lap of the race. His personal best of 1:36.201 came on Lap 44, exactly 0.999 seconds shy of the race's benchmark (1:35.202), set by Ferrari's Charles Leclerc on Lap 41.

Alongside Leclerc, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Oscar Piastri, and Isack Hadjar also posted faster times than Verstappen during the Grand Prix. Notably, all four of those benchmark laps were clocked between Laps 41 and 44.

Verstappen already boasts six career Grand Slams, placing him joint-second on the all-time list alongside Lewis Hamilton, with the legendary Jim Clark leading the way on eight. Two Grand Slams have already been claimed this season, first by Antonelli in Monaco and later by George Russell in Azerbaijan.
