A 26-year-old Cameroonian striker has died after collapsing during a game on Saturday, August 22 in Douala.

Leopold Angong Oben collapsed in the first half minutes after he was foul, earning a penalty for his Cameroonian second division side Dynamo de Douala against Colombe du Dja-et-Lobo at the Reunification Stadium.

"He collapsed in the stadium in the 33rd minute of the match," Sports journalist Aime Moukokon is quotedd to say by several reports.

"His team mates tried to revive him without success."

A Red Cross personnel present at the stadium was called in to help before the player was transferred a Douala hospital where he died some minutes later.

His cause of death has not been disclosed.

Oben is the second Dynamo de Douala player to have died in the space of three weeks.

27-year-old goalkeeper Ferdinand Mbog passed away following an unspecified illness.
