Earlier, Vanguard reported that LASTMA has a new directive on how to deal with traffic offenders.

This involved booking traffic offenders, rather than apprehending or chasing their vehicles.

According to Mr. Oluseyi Whenu, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, offenders will be given given a grace period for payment, and then, apprehended at home through the information in the motor vehicle database.

LASTMA officials started using this new method last Friday, September 18th, and it has everyone talking.

Personally, i think it is a more civilised method which is a good thing.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Bashir Braimah, prefers this new method too as he recently urged his officials not to chase vehicles, but focus all their energies on keeping the traffic flowing.
