1 man tested positive, 18 quarantine, 100 persons being monitored in Kastina

In a new case of lassa fever, a middle-man in Kastina has tested positive to the disease.

He contacted the virus following the death of his brother who died from the disease. He was said to have travelled from Kastina to Kaduna to transport his brother’s corpse back to their hometown in Kastina.

According to Mariyatu Bala Usman, Kastina commissioner for health the undisclosed man picked his brother’s corpse before the Kaduna health authority released the cause of death.

The report showed that the unidentified man’s brother died of Lassa fever.

Shamsudden Yahaya, Director of Public Health confirmed that about 18 primary contacts have been quarantined while over 100 are being monitored.
