Lamine Yamal steals the show at Ballon d'Or gala: Here's the story behind the pink lapel accessory /VIDEO/

The Spaniard arrived at the Ballon d'Or ceremony accompanied by his girlfriend, Ines Garcia. The couple posed on the red carpet amid flashing cameras, with all eyes drawn to the oversized pink brooch on his lapel. Soon enough, everyone was asking the same question: what on earth is that?

Some wondered if it was a flattened lionfish. A flower? A sea anemone? Perhaps something Ines had lovingly picked for him?

International media eventually revealed that the accessory was an oversized Chanel feather brooch designed to resemble a flower.

It covered the lapel of the teenager's black blazer, offering a striking, vibrant pink contrast against his all-black outfit.

Yamal is not the first celebrity to rock this giant feathered flower. Actor Pedro Pascal wore the exact same Chanel piece to the Oscars just a few months ago. 

Yamal has displayed a growing interest in fashion ever since cementing his place among football's elite, increasingly blending his signature streetwear style with luxury labels and high fashion.

As a reminder, the Spaniard did not leave London empty-handed, walking away with the award for the world's best young talent.
