Students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Science and Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, have protested after their valuables were carted away by hoodlums who laid siege on their various hostels in the town.
This has led the Oyo State House of Assembly to alert the state police command to provide protection for students.
According to Vanguard, they protested on Monday 19th of October over the incessant robbery attacks and raping of their female colleagues.
The Speaker of the House, Mr. Michael Adeyemo said he had received several phone calls and text messages on security situation in the ancient town.
Another lawmaker, Mrs. Bimbo Olawunmi Oladeji who represents Ogbomoso North, brought the matter before the House and called on the legislators to do something urgent about the security situation in Ogbomoso.
She said:
“There is general insecurity in Ogbomoso. In recent times,there have been cases of armed robbery attacks and harassment of LAUTECH students. I will urge the house to look into the issue.”
