La Liga Player Arrested

Elche player Josan Ferrandez has been arrested following allegations of alleged abuse filed by his partner, Rosa Duarte, according to Spanish newspaper Información. The player, who is also one of the club's captains, appeared before judicial authorities in Orihuela, Alicante, where his legal status is being clarified.

The 36-year-old Ferrandez and his partner have two daughters together and are currently in the process of separation.

The publication reported that several pieces of evidence were submitted alongside the complaint, including allegedly abusive WhatsApp messages, as well as photographs of bruising claimed to be the result of the alleged incidents.

The competent authorities are set to establish all circumstances surrounding the case and determine whether there are grounds for charges. The footballer retains the presumption of innocence while the investigation continues and a decision from the judicial authorities in Orihuela is awaited.

Following reports of the incident, Josan Ferrandez and Rosa Duarte released a joint official statement to clarify the situation:

“Regarding reports published in recent hours concerning our private lives, we would like to jointly state that we are in the process of divorce. As in any such situation, we are going through delicate moments that are not always easy. Nevertheless, we want to emphasize that we maintain mutual respect and the commitment to get through this period in the most dignified manner possible.

In response to emerging speculation, we state that there are currently no ongoing judicial proceedings against Josan Ferrandez. Out of respect for our personal situation and especially for our loved ones, we request that all matters regarding this topic remain private. Our wish is to bring an end to all controversy and approach this new chapter with normality and respect. We thank you for your understanding regarding our privacy.“
