Spain's La Liga on Monday condemned the "threats, insults, and intimidation" directed at Sevilla players and management by the club's fans. The incident occurred on Sunday following the team's third consecutive loss.
Furious with the team's results – currently sitting 17th in the standings and battling relegation after Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Oviedo – Sevilla supporters were escorted by police to prevent clashes. However, they vehemently insulted the players, with some even issuing death threats.
La Liga denounced these actions in a statement, asserting that such behavior "crosses the acceptable line of permissible criticism and sporting conduct."
This incident follows a similar one earlier in the season when fans attempted to force their way into the club's training ground. "Impunity for such actions has ended," La Liga stated, assuring that they would report these acts of hatred to the Spanish justice system.
