NBA star and Dallas Mavericks ace Kyrie Irving has once again proven himself a big-hearted athlete and a man unafraid to stand publicly by his convictions. Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair has been fined $11,492 for writing the name Hind Rajab on his eye black. Hind Rajab was a six-year-old Palestinian girl who tragically lost her life in Gaza in January 2024, when Israeli forces opened fire on the vehicle carrying her family. Six of her relatives also perished in the attack, a tragic story that resonated and deeply affected people worldwide.

Fine Issued for Honoring Slain Palestinian Girl

When news of the NFL player's financial penalty broke, Irving took to "X" with a concise message: "I'll take care of his fine."

This isn't the first time the celebrated point guard has publicly advocated for human rights. In 2021, while playing for the Brooklyn Nets, Irving publicly announced his conversion to Islam. Since then, he has consistently used his global platform to draw attention to the suffering of vulnerable populations, particularly supporting the Palestinian people during challenging times.

His dedication to his faith is also evident on the court – for years, Irving has competed in the world's premier basketball league while observing the strict Ramadan fast. This means that during spring games, including the most demanding playoff matchups for both the Nets and later the Dallas Mavericks, he performs at an elite level without food or water from sunrise to sunset.
