LASU has an estimated student population of about 61,000 students in its various full-time and part-time programmes.
It is also one of the most turbulent universities in the country, with constant staff and student agitations, like the present tussle between the Vice Chancellor, Professor John Oladapo Obafunwa, and the various staff unions as well as the school fee protests that ended last year:
The institution is presently closed due to a face-off between the staff unions and the Obafunwa-led management.
