The Spanish national team has made history, becoming the first European side to achieve eight consecutive victories in the knockout stages of World Cups and European Championships.
Luis de la Fuente's squad triumphed over France with a 2-0 victory in their 2026 World Cup semi-final clash. With this win, 'La Roja' surpassed Italy's record of seven consecutive knockout stage victories, set between 1934 and 1938. The Spaniards had previously matched that achievement with their own seven-game winning streak between 2008 and 2012.
Spain's impressive winning run includes four matches from Euro 2024 (4-1 against Georgia, 2-1 against Germany, 2-1 against France, and 2-1 against England) and four from the current World Cup (3-0 against Austria, 1-0 against Portugal, 2-1 against Belgium, and 2-0 against France).
