Andrea Kimi Antonelli could secure the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship as early as the United States Grand Prix, set to take place at the Circuit of the Americas near Austin on October 25.

Following the Singapore Grand Prix, where the Italian finished third behind Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, he opened up a 102-point lead over teammate George Russell. The Briton started from the back of the grid at Marina Bay due to a penalty and fought his way up to ninth at the chequered flag.

That points cushion means Antonelli will have his first match point of the season in Austin. To seal the title, he will need to leave Texas with a lead of at least 125 points over his teammate.

The only scenario for this to happen is if Antonelli takes the victory and Russell finishes ninth or lower. If either condition is not met, Antonelli will not be crowned champion in the United States and will have to wait at least until the Mexico City Grand Prix in early November to wrap up the crown.
