With Jesus injured, striker now has a chance at Manchester City
With the uncertainty about
Iheanacho has been out of the side for the fifth consecutive games since Manchester City home 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Saturday, January 31.
That game was the first time Jesus was included in Manchester City matchday squad after his £27million move from Palmeiras of Brazil.
The 19-year-old did not only displace Iheanacho from the squad but has surprisingly become Manchester City first choice striker even above club legend Sergio Aguero.
Jesus who now has three goals for City, however, limped off just 14 minutes into Manchester City’s 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Monday, February 13.
While Pep Guardiola is awaiting news of the Brazilian's foot injury, he looks set to recall Iheanacho for Manchester City’s next fixtures.
The Citizens travel to Huddersfield for an FA Cup fifth-round tie on Saturday, before their Champions League round of 16 clashe at home to Monaco on Tuesday, February 21.
If Jesus injury is as serious as feared, Iheanacho could be back into the Manchester City squad for these fixtures.
Questions have been raised about Iheanacho’s place in the club following his exclusions from the matchday squads for Manchester City’s five consecutive games.
Guardiola, however, has assured that the Nigerian striker has a future at Manchester City.
“But of course Kelechi is part of the squad," Guardiola told a news conference.
"Jesus and Nolito are not-so young strikers, Gabriel, Rash [Raheem Sterling] and Kelechi, they are so, so young strikers and they will be the future. They have to adapt."
