Leicester City boss Puel says Iheanacho needs good service to score goals
Leicester City boss Claude Puel has stated that Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho needs good service to score to score goals.
Iheanacho has scored just one goal in 16 matches this season for Leicester City and has been criticized for his goalscoring tally.
The 22-year-old forward was brought in to the King Power Stadium from reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.
Brought in for big money Iheanacho has struggled to replicate his impressive goal ratio for the Foxes.
Iheanacho was brought in for Demarai Gray in the second half as Leicester City lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace in their last Premier League encounter on Saturday, December 15.
Puel however defended his forward players including Iheanacho despite not finding the back of the net as he stated that his midfielders struggled t create for his forwards.
In an interview with SkySports he said, “I think in his last game he was available between defenders a lot and he made many good runs behind the opponents’ line without receiving good service.
“We need to improve our play between the attacking players and the midfield, to give a good pass in the right moment.
“For an attacking player or striker, they need good service. We can improve in this and we have progress to make.”
Iheanacho will hope to rediscover his goalscoring touch when Leicester City host Manchester City in a Carabao Cup fixture on Tuesday, December 18.
