Former Super Eagles striker Kanu Nwankwo has congratulated the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria following their 5-1 thrashing of Chile in the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup.
A brace each from Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen and a goal Kelechi Nwakali gave the Golden Eaglets a 5-1 win over host Chile to advance to the next round.
Kanu who won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 1993 took to Twitter to praise the youngsters.
“Congratulations to our dear Eaglets, we are proud of you all. Congrats Amunike and your coaching crew, keep flying and remain focus to the end,” Kanu wrote.
During the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Japan, Kanu bagged a hat-trick against Canada before netting a goal each in the Group B fixtures against Argentina and Australia.
The Golden Eaglets will face Croatia in their last match of Group A on Friday, October 23.
