CAF postpones Champions League engagement

CAF has postponed the Champions League game of Kano Pillars after an armed robbery attack left five of their players seriously injured

After undefinedof Kano Pillars injured, the Confederation of African Football, CAF, has postponed the Champions League clash between the Nigerian league winners and Moghreb Tetouane of Morrocco.

The club made this known through a statement released on their Twitter account.

The clash which was scheduled to hold this weekend, Saturday, March 14, has been postpone till the weekend of March 20-22.

"CAF Champions League Committee has postponed our 1st leg match against MA Tetouane of Morocco for one week," a tweet from the club's official account reads.

"The March 14th game is now scheduled to be played on 20, 21, or 22 of March. The match has been postponed due to the attack on the team," another tweet reads.

Kano Pillars bus was attacked by armed robbers while in Abaji in the outskirts of Abuja on Thursday, March 5 while they were on their way to Owerri to face Heartland FC in their NPL opener.

The match against Heartland has been postponed indefinitely.

Striker Gambo Mohammed, Eneji Otekpa, Reuben Ogbonaya, Moses Ekpai and Murtala Adamu were injured in the attack.

Team doctors have said that Gambo would require surgery while three of the players were discharged on return to Kano last weekend.
