Julian Alvarez to Change Long-Time Agent Following Turbulent Summer

Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez has decided to part ways with his agent, Fernando Hidalgo, who has managed his career for nearly a decade. According to AS, the Argentine and his inner circle chose to make the major change following the close of the transfer window, during which the striker was eager to secure a move to Barcelona that ultimately failed to materialise. His father, Gustavo Alvarez, has taken a leading role in selecting a new agency to manage his affairs, with an Argentine firm owned by former football star Javier Pastore currently leading the race. Talks are at an advanced stage, with only the final signatures pending.

According to AS, splitting with Hidalgo is also expected to help smooth relations between Alvarez and Atletico Madrid. Under contract until 2030, the forward must now rebuild trust with both the supporters—following a slow start to the campaign—and his teammates in the dressing room, where Cristian Romero remains his closest ally after a tough run of form over recent months.

For now, Alvarez is focused on his international commitments with Argentina and playing alongside his idol, Leo Messi, against Benin. Following his return to Madrid at the end of the week, he is set to finalise the managerial switch that is already well underway.
