Jorge Martin: I rode perfectly, but even that wasn't enough to beat Marc

Jorge Martin led the opening 11.5 laps of the Japanese Grand Prix, but ultimately had to settle for second place behind Marc Marquez in Motegi.

Speaking after the race at the Twin Ring Motegi, Martin felt he had delivered a near-flawless performance. However, even that proved insufficient for the "Martinator" to claim his second Sunday race victory of the season.

"I'm very pleased with the feeling we found. Obviously, it's not the result I was aiming for—I wanted to win—but beating Marc today was an extremely tall order. It was one of those days where I rode almost perfectly, stayed very clean, felt incredibly confident, and yet still came up short.

"I can only congratulate Marc on his win. For my part, I'm really happy because we have a great package to keep fighting with for the rest of the season. I'm thrilled to be on the podium here in Japan—I love this trophy. So yes, very happy, thank you very much," Martin concluded, signing off in Japanese.
