Former Nigerian player says Super Eagles need a foreign coach

Former Super Eagles player Jonathan Akpoborie has revealed that th Super Eagles need a foreign coach if they are to be successful again.

After failing to qualify for the last African Cup of Nations, the Nigeria Football Federation has chosen to offer coach Stephen Keshi another but Akpoborie does not think that is the right choice.

The ex-Wolfsburg striker also expressed their disappointment with the performance of the Super Eagles against Uganda in their friendly game.

The Super Eagles lost to a lone Faruku Miya goal in Uyo on on Wednesday, March 25 and the former German-based forward revealed that Nigerians played badly on that day.

“Uganda were well-organised, they had a game plan and they won even though they were not as talented as we are. We played like street boys,” Akpoborie is quoted to say by .

“It was shameful to lose to a team like Uganda at our own home,” the Senegal ’92 Africa Cup of Nations bronze medallist said.

“Such a thing would not have happened during our time.”
