Jon Jones' days as a professional MMA fighter have finally come to an end.
The former two-division UFC champion has competed in just three fights over the past four years and briefly retired in 2025. The 38-year-old American then rescinded his retirement plans, hoping for a chance to participate in a UFC event at the White House in the summer of 2026. Unfortunately for him, UFC CEO Dana White quickly dismissed his involvement.
Jones had hoped to challenge Alex Pereira for the heavyweight title at a gala event on June 14th. The New York native publicly requested his release from the UFC after White stated there were never serious negotiations between him and the organization. Now, it appears Jones has retired from competition for good.
“I’ve hung up the gloves. I’m resting right now. You have the business version of Jon Jones. No more fighter Jon Jones. The businessman, you know what I mean?” Jones told Red Corner MMA in a YouTube vlog.
Jones was a special guest at an IBA Bare Knuckle event in Russia, headlined by fellow UFC veteran Yoel Romero against Vagab Vagabov. When Romero suggested Jones could pursue a bare-knuckle fight if he was no longer interested in MMA, Jones dismissed that idea as well.
