John Travolta Says Pitbull Encouraged Him to Go Bald
John Travolta has been bald for a few months now-he revealed his new look in the early days of 2019-but we now know that a fellow hairless star helped the Grease and Pulp Fiction legend to arrive at his final decision.
"I became friends with Pitbull-you know, all of us guys who do this have got to stick together," he said to actress and writer Lena Waithe, who was guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! . "Both he and my family encouraged it."
Pitbull, of course, is a Miami-based rapper who's chart-toppers have included "Timber" and "Give me Everything."
Travolta appeared on the show alongside his daughter, Ella Bleu-they're both appearing in the upcoming film The Poison Rose.
Waithe opened the discussion by pressing the Academy Award-nominee about his hair-or, now, lack thereof. "Your hair was pretty famous," she said. "You had this, like, beautiful mane. And then you guys posted this picture people kind of went a little crazy, it went viral, were you expecting that?
Travolta responded in a typical low key and self-deprecating nature: No! Its just a haircut, he said. The last time I went this viral was when I mispronounced Idina Menzels name at the Oscars." That Oscars moment that Travolta is referring to, of course, was one of the all-time live television gaffes , and one that to this point still makes absolutely no sense. So it's very refreshing and nice to see that he still has a good sense of humor about it.
The actor also made a good point-this isn't the first time he's been bald. Travolta loyalists may remember that a movie he did back in 2010 called From Paris With Love saw a hairless, gun-toting Danny Zuko. So it's not exactly new. Either way, though, it's definitely a look that he's pulling off. It's almost like we're all used to it already-pre-bald Travolta is looking a little odd already, somehow.
