JJ Redick emphasized that the Lakers' goal is to win the championship, while also commending his players for their achievements and for exceeding expectations.
Following the game against the Suns, JJ Redick made it clear that the ultimate goal is always to win the championship, while simultaneously praising his players for their accomplishments thus far.
"Every year since I've been in the NBA, the goal has been the championship. That's the objective. When you represent the Lakers, play for the Lakers, and coach the Lakers, that's the goal. That's our fans' goal. Let's not underestimate what this team achieved in the regular season, regardless of what happens in the playoffs.
Because securing home-court advantage and winning 52, maybe even 53 games, facing all the adversity we did – not just the injuries, but also, again, the noise. That will always be there for our team because this is the Lakers," he stated.
He continued: "Credit to the players. Credit to the staff for keeping their heads down and doing their job. And we coached in many different ways this year; our players had to adapt, they made sacrifices.
Many of these players I spoke about are in the final year of their contracts. I think for everyone, it was a really great opportunity to grow as players, as coaches, as people."
